Donut Shop Classics

Doughnuts or Donuts? No matter how you spell it, they’re a whole lotta goodness in tiny packages! This post was done more out of necessity then a need for a challenge - my favorite donut shop in La Habra is sadly closed right now and I desperately needed a fix.

This being my maiden voyage in the donut world I wanted to stick to the classics - Glazed Old Fashioned and Yeasted Chocolate Dipped.

While a little time consuming, I had fun making these. There’s something mesmerizing about watching the dough puff up as it fries, changing from a light blonde to golden brown in minutes; watching the classic fissures appear in the old fashioned as it rises from the depths of the pan…..man, I must really like donuts!

Poetry aside, I think everyone should have a warm glazed donut at least once in their life and if it was made in your own kitchen, all the better. Get up early though, otherwise you’ll be having donuts for lunch….not that there’s anything wrong with that…..
